Design and ethics:

This traditional top is made from 100% organic cotton, naturally hand-woven and hand-dyed by the Inthar ethnic group of Lake Inle in Burma.

It has been sewn and assembled in a social workshop in Yangon (capital of Burma). This social centre employs and offers a place to live and reintegrate Burmese women in difficulty (released from prison, disability, poverty, etc.)

Story:

This traditional Burmese piece is worn by women during ceremonies, parties, weddings, etc. Accompanied by a luxurious and colourful skirt, this outfit represents the quintessence of Burmese class. Historically, this traditional top has carried with it a controversy: that of showing the body of women without revealing it... With its tight fit and buttons on the front, it was considered provocative. Nowadays, it is this progress that this piece honours.
