About

Jamunmai is above all a story of encounters.

Established in Myanmar, Jamunmai (Golden moon in Kachin language) is an ethical fashion journey. Our mission is to celebrate international cultural heritage by drawing inspiration from ancient traditions and craftsmanship. Spanning across Myanmar, Tajikistan, and France, with aspirations for more destinations in the future, our journey is one of cultural appreciation and sustainable practices.

At the heart of our ethos lies a strong commitment to ethical standards. Every fabric we use is thoughtfully sourced, prioritizing responsibility and sustainability throughout the production process. Our garments are meticulously crafted in limited quantities to avoid overproduction and minimize environmental impact. We hold our partners to the highest ethical standards, fostering a collaborative environment dedicated to sustainability and responsible practices.

Currently, Jamunmai boasts three distinctive collections. The inaugural Myanmar collection serves as the foundation of our venture. Collaborating closely with a small, women-owned atelier in Yangon, we have developed a range of items using locally made fabrics, notably the renowned 100% Inle Lake cotton. By working with Burmese nationals, we not only ensure a stable income for our partners but also contribute to the preservation and advancement of Myanmar's traditional crafts.

Our "Finds" collection epitomizes multiculturalism by integrating found objects into a micro collection crafted in collaboration with refugee artisans. Through the seamless fusion of recycled fabrics, jewelry, and unique treasures, this initiative, conducted at the Cinq Toits Ateliers in Paris, bridges craftsmanship with contemporary fashion, symbolizing a global exchange of creativity and resilience.

Continuing our journey, Jamunmai has embarked on collaborative ventures with local and Afghan artisans in Tajikistan, notably partnering with the Gulzar village craft center in Dushanbe. Leveraging local materials such as cotton, traditional suzani, silk felt, wool, and ikat, we have curated a collection of unique pieces that reflect the rich cultural tapestry of the region.

As we forge ahead, Jamunmai remains dedicated to exploring inspiring locales and fostering collaborative creation. Join us as we continue to tread the path of cultural appreciation and sustainable fashion innovation.
